Winter in Maenporth, Falmouth, Cornwall.

Winter holiday in Maenporth. Having a lovely time living under oak trees, listening to owls at night. It’s 5 degrees warmer here as there’s a Gulf Stream so never too cold.

A house I used to live in as an art student in 1992. It still looks exactly the same with the same yellow door but the oddest conversion has happened of cutting the house in half right down the middle to make 2 maisonettes!

Houses

Bickleigh Castle, Devon where my grandpa lived in the 1960s and 70s. The Beatles looked round and were interested in buying it but decided it was too small!

20120414-141028.jpg

I couldn’t look round as it is now a hotel but would like to stay there one day.

20120414-141205.jpg

The cottages behind the wall where my mother and aunt used to stay.

20120414-141342.jpg

It is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The castle looks really lovely with its own 6th century chapel, moat and gardens. I have been recommended by friends who stayed here recently to stay in the bridal suite if you are interested to see the main house, hall etc. and they said the family who live here are very nice and welcoming.

A perfect place to stay on the long drive down to Cornwall!
